Within easy reach of the house, guests can find a myriad of sightseeing opportunities, we’ve listed our favourites below:

• Glamis Castle; childhood home of the late Queen Mother and the setting for Macbeth.
• Blair Castle; ancestral home of the Dukes of Atholl.
• Scone Palace; the crowning place of Scottish kings.
• St Andrews; not just great for golfers, there are beautiful beaches, historic buildings and a plethora of eateries to chose from.
• East Neuk; a picturesque fishing village which is only an hours drive from us.
• You can enjoy a trip to the magnificent gardens at House of Pitmuies near Forfar or take in the beautiful Cowden Japanese Garden near Dollar.
• Whisky lovers can enjoy a visit to the many distilleries not too far from Auchterarder.  We have the local Tullibardine Distillery just 10 minutes drive away; Edradour, Scotland’s smallest distillery and Glenturret in Crieff which also hosts the fabulous Lalique Restaurant with their Michelin star team.

For the kids and the big kids too, there is a host of activities local to us and also activities we can arrange in the grounds of Auchterarder House.

Proven popular with our guests have been:

• The Scottish Deer Centre near Cupar includes 12 species of deer and animals which are long lost from the Scottish countryside, including Wolves, Lynx and Scottish Wildcat plus our European Brown Bear.
• Go-Karting and Supercar Driving thrill at Knockhill.
• Crieff Hydro Hotel offers many activities including alpaca trekking, Treetop Adventure and axe throwing plus much more.
• A trip to Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland where you can explore with a visit to the castle which gives you an overview of the city, followed by a a walking tour of the Old Town.
• Glasgow can offer a visit to the science museum, transport museum and the Tall Ship, all within close proximity to one another.
